Übernimm die Verantwortung! Dann wirst du selbst in größter Armut, im Elend, im Gefängnis vollkommen Herr deiner selbst bleiben. Du wirst die Freiheit besitzen, die mit Verantwortung einhergeht.
Alle deine Religionen haben dich abhängig gemacht von Gott, vom Schicksal, von irgendeiner Bestimmung. Doch das sind nur unterschiedliche Bezeichnungen für etwas, was überhaupt nicht existiert. Was existiert, ist deine Sklaverei oder deine Freiheit. Du hast die Wahl. Wenn du die Freiheit wählst, dann musst du alle Strategien anderer vereiteln, die dich zum Sklaven machen. Das ist es, was der Taoismus versucht: Er versucht, all deine Ketten und Fesseln zu beseitigen, dich von allem zu befreien, damit du du selbst sein kannst.

There are two ways of expression. In the West. catharsis has become very important. Encounter groups, Primal Therapy - all believe in catharsis. Dynamic Meditation is a method of catharsis because people have lost the key to sublimate. Patanjali does not talk about catharsis at all. Why doesn't he talk about it? People had the key. the knack. They knew how to sublimate. You have forgotten, so you have to learn catharsis. Anger is there; it can be transformed into compassion, but you have no idea how to do it. And it is not an art which can be taught; it is a knack. You have to do it, and learn it through doing it; there is no other way. It is just like swimming: you have to swim, and err, and sometimes get into danger, and sometimes you will feel lost, the life is lost, you are drowning. You have to pass all those, and then the knack comes, then you know what it is. And it is such a simple thing, swimming. Have you observed? There are a few things you can learn but you cannot forget: swimming is one of those things. Or cycling -- you can learn but you cannot forget. Everything else you can learn and you can forget.

Remember this distinction very subtly. Living outside means if you get something you will be happy. Happiness is conditional. There is a condition. Someone says that if I have a million € then I will be happy. He has put a condition on happiness. Now until he has got a million € he will be unhappy. And he will get another great shock the day he gets a million €. As long as he hadn't got a million € he was sad because he had put a condition on happiness. Whoever puts a condition misses, because happiness happens unconditionally. Happiness is our nature. We come bringing happiness. Happiness resides within us. And you have gone outside to seek it. And you have put conditions on happiness. If you search outside you will have to put conditions otherwise what will you look for? Search means a method to fulfill a condition. Someone has said that until I become prime minister I will not be happy. He has made a condition. Now in a country of eighty million to become prime minister is a long journey. It is unlikely you will make it while you are still living. So your whole life will be spent in unhappiness. Until the conditions are fulfilled, how can you be happy? And a man who has lived his whole life in misery will be more surprised when he becomes prime minister, because by living his whole life in unhappiness, unhappiness has become a habit. Being prime minister the habit of being miserable will not drop so quickly.

Every individual has many faces, many visages, which are stolen, and these visages will always be there in all circumstances. The ornaments for the ankles with small stones within their hollow, produce a musical sound. Is not that musical sound the visage of that ornament? If this is a fact, a distinction will have to be made.
